Fan of the Year

This major accolade is presented from time to time to those who have displayed loyalty and devotion to the the band's music, booking forms, aims and principles - often to principles that members of the band are entirely unaware of.

So in the interests of music and tradition we present,
Free Spirit's Fan of the Year, the millenium person,
From Lancashire.........

Ms. Brenda Fender

Brenda (pictured on the right) began listening to The Free Spirit Band in April 2000 by downloading MP3s from the internet. She fell in love with the band immediately, and communication was soon established by e.mail.  She says that she particularly loves the electric pulse that the band gives to the traditional tunes:
"Its so much more funky than the combo at our tea-dances in Ormskirk," sighs Brenda.

For Brenda a visit to the West country is now a must and she is already saving up pennies for the train - any train, but naturally she hopes that one day soon the band will find its way north.  Meanwhile Brenda relies on her other love as she whiles away Saturday afternoons at Anfield, where she is pictured above with her favourite Reds star Patrik Berger: "Old Pat's always ready for a hoe-down too," smiles Brenda!
